Job summary

OpenAI Foundation is seeking a Grants Officer to manage grants from initial review through closeout and to help build effective grantmaking practices. Reporting to the Head of Grant Operations, this role requires due diligence, compliance assessment, and strong collaboration with grantees and internal teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in grants management or related fields.
• Experience administering international grants is helpful.
• Strong grantmaking judgment and knowledge of grant compliance.
• Experience using a grants management system to maintain records and support reporting.
• Clear written and verbal communication with grantees and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Independently conduct and document grant due diligence and compliance reviews, identify material risks, and develop recommendations.
• Manage an assigned grant portfolio through the full lifecycle: agreements, payments, renewals, and closeout; track conditions and review reports.
• Serve as a responsive point of contact for prospective grantees and grantees, communicating needs and timelines clearly.
• Maintain accurate records in the grants management system and prepare grant/portfolio summaries.
• Lead or support grant operations projects and process improvements across the team.
