Job summary

Baker Tilly is seeking a Senior to join our Compliance Advisory team. In this cross-functional role, you will provide advisory and consulting services to governmental, tribal, private, and not-for-profit organizations, with a focus on grant management, compliance, internal controls, and policy development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, public administration, or related field; Master’s in Accounting, MBA, or MPA preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience; public accounting or professional services experience strongly preferred.
• Experience serving governmental, tribal, and/or not-for-profit organizations preferred.
• Experience with grant management and compliance activities, internal control reviews or assessments, and/or internal audit.
• Experience with Single Audits and federally funded programs preferred.
• CPA, CIA, CGMA, CFE, or other relevant professional designation preferred.
• Familiarity with GAAS/Yellow Book, Uniform Guidance, and IIA standards preferred.
• Understanding of financial, compliance, and operational environments of governmental and not-for-profit organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, exercise professional judgment, and communicate findings clearly.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports and client deliverables.
• Ability to travel approximately 20%.

Responsibilities

• Support grant compliance monitoring activities, develop monitoring programs, and review subrecipient performance and financial reporting.
• Perform and lead grant compliance reviews, evaluate financial and programmatic documentation, and develop findings and recommendations.
• Perform and lead internal control reviews, internal audits, and operational assessments, evaluating processes, risks, controls, and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop and enhance policies, procedures, processes, and internal controls based on needs, risks, and leading practices.
• Conduct interviews, review documentation, perform analyses, and prepare client deliverables including findings and reports.
• Collaborate with clients to understand accounting practices and identify improvements to strengthen compliance and operations.
• Communicate project status, issues, and results to engagement teams and client stakeholders.
• Provide guidance to and review the work of junior team members to support timely delivery.
