Job summary

Baker Tilly is seeking a Senior Compliance Advisory professional to join our team. You will advise governmental, tribal, private, and not-for-profit clients on grant management, compliance, internal controls, and policy development.

In this cross-functional role, you will collaborate with clients and teams to assess needs, identify improvements, and develop practical solutions that strengthen processes and organizational effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, public administration, or a related field; Master’s in Accounting, MBA, or MPA preferred
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience; public accounting or professional services experience strongly preferred
• Experience serving governmental, tribal, and/or not-for-profit organizations preferred
• Experience with grant management and compliance activities, internal control reviews or assessments, and/or internal audit
• Experience with Single Audits and federally funded programs preferred
• CPA, CIA, CGMA, CFE, or other relevant professional designation preferred
• Familiarity with GAAP Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS) and Uniform Guidance, IIA standards preferred
• Understanding of financial, compliance, and operational environments of governmental and not-for-profit organizations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with client-facing deliverables
• Ability to travel as needed, approximately 20%

Responsibilities

• Support grant compliance monitoring activities, including development of monitoring programs and review of subrecipient performance, financial reporting, and compliance with applicable requirements
• Lead grant compliance reviews, evaluate financial and programmatic documentation, and develop clear findings and recommendations
• Lead internal control reviews, internal audits, and operational assessments, including evaluating processes, risks, controls, and opportunities for improvement
• Develop and enhance policies, procedures, processes, and internal controls based on organizational needs and leading practices
• Conduct interviews, review documentation, perform analyses, and prepare client deliverables including findings and recommendations
• Collaborate with clients to understand current accounting practices, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop practical solutions
• Communicate project status, issues, and results to engagement team members and client stakeholders
• Provide guidance to and review the work of junior team members to support timely project delivery
