Job summary

The Fortune Society, Inc. in Long Island City is seeking a Senior Grant Writer to analyze funding sources and lead high‑level institutional grant proposals. You will manage narratives, budgets, and attachments, coordinating with program managers and finance staff to secure awards and contracts.

With 5–7 years of grant-writing experience, you will drive strategic fundraising efforts in a fast-paced environment and mentor junior staff within the Development and Communications unit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; advanced degree preferred.
• 5–7 years’ experience in grant proposals and government RFPs.
• Commitment to Fortune Society’s mission and reentry work.

Responsibilities

• Research funding opportunities from government, corporate, and foundations.
• Lead preparation of large government and private foundation proposals.
• Draft narratives, budgets, and attachments with timelines.
• Coordinate with program, finance, and external partners.
• Mentor junior grant writers and attend related trainings.
