Job summary

The Fortune Society, Inc. is a nationally recognized reentry and justice-informed service organization seeking a Senior Grant Writer to analyze funding sources and lead Fortune’s most complex institutional proposals.

You will produce high-quality grants and contracts within deadlines, helping expand programs for the community. You will manage government and private foundation proposals, coordinate with program and finance staff, mentor junior writers, and contribute to Fortune’s fundraising

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; advanced degree preferred.
5–7 years’ proven success in grant proposals and government RFPs.
Familiarity with reentry programs and NYC criminal justice system a plus.

Responsibilities

Research government, corporate, and foundation funding opportunities and identify good fits.
Lead the preparation and development of large government and private foundation grant proposals, including narrative, budget, and attachments.
Design and enforce proposal production schedules and ensure deadlines are met.
Coordinate with program, finance, and external partners to deliver high-quality proposals.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior Grant Writers.
Act as a liaison between funders and The Fortune Society; advise executives on funder communications.
Prepare fundraising materials such as concept papers and brochures.
