Job summary

Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to oversee general ledger maintenance, closing processes, accounts payable, capital assets, and grant accounting. The role requires collaboration with teams to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting.

Ideal candidate will have a accounting/finance degree, 3 years governmental accounting experience including supervisory duties, and valid Florida driver's license.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or coursework qualifying for the CPA Examination.
• Requires three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in governmental accounting, including one (1) year supervising subordinates.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Class E Driver's License and be able to obtain TWIC within 60 days.
• Must be able to secure and maintain a Port Security Identification Badge for duration of employment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance of general ledger for all agency funds and reconcile accounts.
• Supervise monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes with proper review and recording of transactions.
• Review accounting records for accuracy, completeness, and internal control compliance.
• Supervise accounts payable, capital assets accounting, grant billing, and tax filings.
• Support audits with schedules and documentation; implement corrective actions.
• Maintain confidentiality and strengthen internal controls to safeguard assets.
