Job summary

Douglas County is seeking an Accounting Supervisor in General Finance to lead a team and oversee complex financial duties.

The role includes supervising staff, assisting with the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), collaborating with auditors, and enforcing accurate general ledger practices and Chart of Accounts. A bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is required, with four years of experience including supervisory duties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or related field.
  • Four (4) years of professional level experience including at least one (1) year of supervisory experience.
  • Governmental accounting experience and/or a CPA with audit experience is highly desirable.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and trains assigned staff; coordinates with Assistant Finance Director on ACFR preparation and publication.
  • Works with auditors during the annual audit process.
  • Assists in implementing new governmental accounting standards and policy updates for the Finance Department.
  • Ensures accuracy and integrity of the general ledger and Chart of Accounts.
  • Supports department with special projects as assigned.
