Job summary

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners seeks an Accounting Supervisor to oversee the general ledger for all funds, supervise the monthly close, and lead accounting staff to ensure accurate financial reporting.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (CPA exam eligible) and at least 3 years of governmental accounting experience, including supervisory work. Florida driver’s license and related clearances may be required.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA exam eligibility.
• Requires three (3) years of progressively responsible governmental accounting experience; including one (1) year supervising staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger maintenance for all agency funds, programs, projects, and activities.
• Supervise monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.
• Review financial transactions for accuracy, completeness, and internal controls.
• Supervise accounts payable functions, including invoices and vendor payments.
• Oversee accounting and reporting of capital assets, including depreciation and asset schedules.
• Oversee grant and program accounting, including grant billing and reporting.
• Coordinate with audits and regulatory filings; support corrective actions.
• Maintain confidentiality and strengthen internal controls.
