Job summary

PlanetScale is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Postgres engineering team. You will design and operate a scalable control plane that provisions, scales, and heals Postgres clusters with minimal customer downtime.

You will build high-availability, disaster-recovery, and data-protection tooling, and you will work with customers to translate real-world workloads into platform improvements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience designing, building, and supporting large-scale systems.
• Strong proficiency in Go, plus experience with other languages like Ruby, Python, Zig or Rust.
• Experience building and operating distributed, fault-tolerant services.
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes and containerized applications.
• Experience with distributed systems at scale and performance tuning.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the control plane that provisions, scales, and heals Postgres clusters with minimal downtime.
• Build and maintain high availability, disaster recovery, and data protection solutions.
• Tune Postgres to operate at scale for large workloads.
• Develop tooling and automation for database operations, backups, migrations, and on-call rotations.
• Collaborate with customers to translate workloads into platform improvements.
