Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking a Systems Engineer to scale and operate our internal PostgreSQL platform across multiple regions. You will work with database engineers, developers, and infrastructure teams to evolve architecture, automation, and reliability.

The role emphasizes building PostgreSQL clusters, tooling for automation, monitoring with Prometheus/Grafana, and high availability and disaster recovery. This is a hands-on, multi-team environment at Cloudflare.

Qualifications

• Experience building and scaling multi-tenant PostgreSQL clusters with HA and DR.
• IaC experience: Terraform, Ansible or Salt.
• Automation scripting in Python or Bash.
• Experience building and maintaining database tooling for automation and monitoring.
• Containerized environments with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Expertise in optimizing database performance and query tuning.
• Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, Kibana monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy, and manage PostgreSQL clusters in production.
• Develop tooling for automation, monitoring, and performance tuning.
• Implement high availability, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Collaborate with Infra and Applications teams to integrate database tools.
• Implement observability to monitor database health.
• Optimize indexing strategies and query performance.
