Job summary

Snowflake is building a world-class OLTP service on Postgres and seeking a Senior Postgres Engineer to help deliver a large-scale, multi-cloud Postgres offering with an established customer base. You will design an orchestration layer, tune Postgres for huge datasets, and implement HA/DR while collaborating with distributed teams across AWS, Azure, and GCP.

You will work with experts on low-level OS concepts, programming in Java, Python/Ruby & Go, and ensure data security.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of industry experience designing, building and developing large scale systems in production.
• Experience building and maintaining distributed, highly available, fault tolerant services.
• Strong understanding of low level OS concepts including multi-threading, memory management, networking, storage, performance and scale.
• Excellent computer science fundamentals and problem solving.
• Experience with Java, Python/Ruby & Go.
• Experience running and maintaining large Postgres servers.
• Familiarity with cloud networking (VPCs, PrivateLink, Peering, etc).
• Experience working with remote, geographically distributed teams and strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop orchestration layer/ control-plane of large scale databases.
• Collaborate with AWS, Azure, and GCP APIs.
• Build High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions.
• Tune Postgres to operate at scale for very large datasets.
• Secure and protect customer data across the stack.
