Job summary

Viasat is seeking a software engineer to design and operate cloud and edge network infrastructure across AWS and GCP, with Go and Caddy modules on GCE. You’ll own CI/CD paths, deploy infrastructure as code, and contribute to ML-driven routing and delivery decisions.

You’ll work on an agile, hybrid team that balances startup agility with enterprise-scale resources, shipping production-ready solutions and validating impact for merchants and users.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in software development/engineering.
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Systems design: backend services in production with attention to failure modes, deployment, and 3am issues.
• Strong problem-solving, continuous learner, collaborative mindset.
• Ownership mindset: focus on uptime, customer impact, and proactive investigation.
• Interest in AI-enabled capabilities and evaluating new tools responsibly.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy cloud and edge network infrastructure software across AWS and GCP (edge runs on Go / Caddy modules on GCE).
• Own the deployment path for what you build: CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and observability.
• Contribute to the ML pipeline that optimizes routing, caching, and delivery decisions.
• Work with real-user and synthetic performance data through our collection and analytics pipeline.
• Build self-healing systems that detect, diagnose, and resolve production issues automatically.
• Help build autonomous agent architecture that keeps making progress unattended and handoffs to humans or other agents.
