Job summary

Viasat is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to join the Security Engineering team. You will help shape a cloud security strategy, design reusable security templates, and guide cross-functional engineering toward secure cloud deployments across AWS, Azure, and GCP.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in security and software development, strong cloud architecture skills, and hands-on experience with Terraform and security tooling; a Bachelor’s in CS/CE or equivalent is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of practical security experience.
• 5+ years of engineering or software development experience.
• Strong AWS and GCP architecting and development knowledge including hands-on experience designing and implementing secure cloud solutions.
• Solid understanding of security fundamentals: encryption, identity and access management, network segmentation, and threat modeling.
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies, take initiative, and be comfortable with technical details.
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain reusable security templates and reference architectures for teams building in the cloud across Azure, AWS, and GCP
• Provide architecture guidance and security reviews to ensure solutions meet industry best practices and organizational standards
• Drive compliance to security frameworks, including CMMC Level 2 requirements within applicable cloud organizations
• Partner with engineering teams to embed security controls early in the development lifecycle
• Work alongside an innovative, cross-functional team to develop cloud security solutions, reusable templates, and standardized best practices
