Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Melbourne, FL seeks a Principal GNSS Software Engineer to design, implement, and verify safety-critical GNSS software for advanced avionics. The role focuses on DO-178C DAL A compliance, integration, and testing within an onsite team.

You will develop verification plans, automate testing, and ensure end-to-end system performance while collaborating with navigation, systems, and hardware engineers to meet airworthiness standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in STEM with 8+ years experience, or an advanced degree with 5+ years.
• Experience in embedded C/C++ and Python scripting is required.
• Background in GNSS software verification and DO-178C DAL A.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and test embedded GNSS software for avionics navigation systems.
• Develop and execute verification plans for GNSS algorithms and integrity monitoring.
• Perform requirements-based verification at unit, integration, and system levels.
• Apply automation and GenAI-enhanced tools to improve verification quality and efficiency.
• Maintain full traceability per DO-178C DAL A standards.
• Participate in formal engineering reviews and readiness reviews.
• Collaborate with navigation, systems, and hardware teams for end-to-end performance.
• Support certification activities with documentation and verification artifacts.
