Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a senior Guidance and Control software engineer to own full lifecycle development of G&C algorithms for the New Glenn vehicle. You will design, implement, test, and verify flight software and models, and support hardware-in-the-loop campaigns with cross-team collaboration.

The role emphasizes MATLAB/Simulink design, C/C++ implementation, and robust algorithm analysis, with a strong focus on safety-critical performance and verification.

Qualifications

• BS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years experience developing G&C software for safety-critical apps.
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink for design and analysis.
• US citizen or eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop guidance and control algorithms for New Glenn flight control.
• Sequence mission activities and vehicle system commands.
• Develop GN&C requirements with flow downs to subsystems and software levels.
• Build guidance and control algorithms in Simulink for auto-code generation.
• Implement hand-coded flight software in C/C++ as needed.
• Conduct stability and performance assessments with linear and nonlinear models.
• Run Monte Carlo campaigns to characterize robustness across environments.
• Author and execute unit tests, ensure code coverage, support verification.
• Support hardware-in-the-loop integration and test campaigns.
• Validate plant models and algorithm performance with test/flight data.
• Coordinate cross-team analyses and lead technical reviews.
