Job summary

BioTechnique seeks a Microbiology Supervisor to oversee daily microbiology lab operations, ensure GMP/GLP compliance, and support testing of materials and finished products. You will lead staff, drive timely, accurate results, and uphold data integrity under regulatory standards.

The role requires 5+ years in GMP microbiology and supervisory experience, with a focus on cross-functional collaboration and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in microbiology or related scientific discipline.
• 5+ years in a GMP-regulated microbiology laboratory.
• 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience.
• Experience in pharmaceutical/biotech/life sciences industry.
• Strong knowledge of microbiological techniques.
• Understand cGMP, FDA, USP guidelines.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented with commitment to data integrity.

Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day microbiology lab activities including environmental monitoring, sterility testing, microbial ID, and bioburden testing.
• Ensure compliance with cGMP, GLP, FDA, USP and other regulations.
• Review and approve laboratory data, test results, and documentation for accuracy.
• Lead investigations for OOS, deviations, and contamination; implement CAPA.
• Maintain readiness for internal/external audits and regulatory inspections.
• Develop, revise, and approve SOPs, protocols, and reports; train and evaluate staff.
• Ensure calibration/maintenance of lab equipment.
• Coordinate sample scheduling to meet production and release timelines.
• Monitor laboratory inventory and supplies; support method validation and transfer.
• Collaborate with QA, Manufacturing, and R&D.
