Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Senior Operations Engineer in the San Francisco Bay Area to lead cross‑functional projects, developing and delivering the next generation of sortation and distribution solutions. You will own complex lifecycle initiatives, coordinate with vendors and internal teams, and ensure timely handovers from planning to implementation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a STEM field.
• 8+ years of experience as a Project Engineer, Process Engineer, Project Manager, Manufacturing Engineer, or related occupation.
• Experience managing the lifecycle of cross-functional projects, implementing automated equipment and/or integrated systems.
• Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage complex project lifecycles across organizations and geographies, delivering on objectives and targets as project owner.
• Lead engineering reviews influencing system solutions, architecture, and facility processes.
• Coordinate priorities, milestones, and schedules with internal teams and vendors; identify dependencies and mitigate risks.
• Lead designs of automated equipment per standards; perform qualifications and optimize systems.
• Document discussions, decisions, and action items to ensure alignment.
• Communicate project status, risk analysis, and mitigation plans to leadership clearly.
• Manage change orders, purchase orders, and invoice approvals efficiently.
• Build relationships across multiple projects with internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead process-improvement initiatives to enhance team efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Travel up to 80% domestically, with extended trips up to three weeks.
