Job summary

Beacon Hill Staffing Group, LLC is seeking a Senior IT/Technology Project Manager with GIS project experience to lead a large-scale modernization initiative. The role is hands-on, taking ownership from design through implementation and closeout.

The ideal candidate will combine enterprise project leadership with GIS experience (ArcGIS) and be able to drive measurable outcomes with cross-functional teams and external vendors over a multi-year program.

Qualifications

• 5+ years IT/Technology PM experience; 10+ years preferred.
• Demonstrated GIS-related technology project experience.
• Proven success delivering large-scale enterprise tech/software projects.
• Experience leading projects from initiation and planning through implementation, go-live and closeout.
• Experience managing enterprise software implementations, upgrades, migrations, or conversions.
• Experience with commercial/vendor-built software or COTS implementations.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience with Waterfall SDLC and structured project delivery methodologies.
• Experience working within stage-gate/project governance processes.
• Strong hands-on proficiency with Microsoft Project.
• Demonstrated ability to manage third-party vendors, consulting partners, and/or system integrators.
• Proven ability to manage project risks, issues, dependencies, scope, schedules, resources, and escalations.
• Ability to drive execution, challenge assumptions when appropriate, remove obstacles, and hold teams accountable for commitments.
• Strong executive-level written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex initiatives with minimal oversight.
• Strong systems-thinking, critical problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead GIS technology initiative from design phase to closeout.
• Assess status, challenges, risks, constraints, dependencies, and priorities.
• Develop realistic implementation roadmap and integrated project plan.
• Build resource-loaded schedules using MS Project, with tasks, owners, milestones, and dependencies.
• Coordinate work across GIS teams, IT groups, architects, stakeholders, vendors.
• Lead scope, schedule, risk, issue, dependency, resource, and escalation management.
• Proactively identify obstacles and drive timely resolution.
• Establish ownership, delivery expectations, and measurable commitments across workstreams.
• Hold third-party vendors, consultants, and system integrators accountable for deliverables and timelines.
• Lead project governance within Waterfall SDLC and stage-gate environment.
• Translate complex GIS/technical information into clear business decisions for executives.
• Provide transparent project reporting to leadership and sponsors.
• Support development of the project business case, scope, timelines, resources, costs and feasibility.
• Determine scope and priorities for initial implementation phases.
• Lead planning around system migration/conversion, testing, cutover, training, readiness, and transition.
• Build stakeholder alignment across multiple business and technology groups.
