Job summary

Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) is hiring a GIS Analyst/Technician to support large transmission projects. Hybrid role with some remote work and in-office meetings required in the Cincinnati, OH or Plainfield, IN area.

You will create maps, develop web GIS apps, perform spatial analyses, and manage enterprise geodatabases while collaborating with IOU teams and public engagement efforts. A geology/GIS degree and 3+ years of GIS experience are expected.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science or similar field.
3+ years of fulltime GIS work experience.

Responsibilities

Create professional maps and figures of transmission assets and upgrades across multiple disciplines.
Develop and deploy web GIS applications and publish feature services to support analysis and siting/permitting workflows.
Develop ArcGIS Enterprise/Portal field maps for efficient data collection and tablet use.
Conduct geospatial analysis including constraint mapping, route evaluation, and multi-criteria analysis.
Create parcel maps for public engagement notifications and property owner lists.
Generate interactive maps to assist SMEs during public questioning.
Perform data conversion between .dwg, .shp, and .kmz formats.
Download, maintain, and optimize large data libraries from various sources.
Create map packages, kmz’s and web maps for cross-department sharing.
Manage ArcGIS Portal admin tasks like user/group management and data ownership.
Standardize enterprise-wide symbology and maintain geodatabase integrity.
Provide analysis for estimating construction matting costs for budgeting.
Create ArcGIS interactive web maps for project websites.
Communicate clearly with stakeholders; maintain productive relationships throughout projects.
Demonstrate ability to take ownership and drive projects to completion.
