Job summary

Michigan State University’s MSU Student Success development team seeks an Associate Director of Development to cultivate and solicit major gifts focused on Student Success initiatives. The role includes managing a 75-prospect portfolio, conducting regular donor visits, and coordinating with University Advancement for high-value solicitations.

The position reports to the Director of Development for MSU Student Success and will travel as needed to engage donors and close major gifts.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or Business.
• Three to five years of related fundraising, public relations, marketing, or higher education fundraising experience.
• Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with Moves Management or strategic relationship development.
• Ability to close gifts of $100,000 or more.
• Willingness to travel; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Identify, cultivate, and solicit gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, and key constituencies.
• Collaborate with University Advancement to develop fundraising strategies and solicit gifts of $100,000+.
• Maintain an active pool of 75 major prospects and conduct 12–15 face-to-face visits per month.
• Manage donor outreach to achieve annual fundraising goals.
• Plan campus visits and host donor engagements; act as liaison between units and donors.
