Job summary

Michigan State University is seeking an Associate Director of Development for the College of Engineering to grow philanthropic support for student and faculty priorities. A proven fundraiser with collaboration and diplomacy will drive major gifts and strategic moves with a broad donor network.

The role partners with senior development leadership to plan and implement a comprehensive fundraising program, managing ~75 major donor prospects and traveling to engage donors across metro areas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent.
• Five+ years of major gift fundraising experience or similar track record.
• Experience in higher education fundraising preferred.
• Knowledge of philanthropic and tax considerations in charitable giving.
• Ability to manage a large donor portfolio and moves management.

Responsibilities

• Identify and manage a portfolio of approximately 75 major donor prospects.
• Coordinate fundraising strategies and solicit gifts of $100,000 and more.
• Engage donors through 12–15 meaningful interactions per month to move toward major gifts.
• Collaborate with university advancement and college leadership to align priorities with funding needs.
• Travel to manage prospect activity in key metro areas, in-state and out-of-state.
