Job summary

Intertek USA is seeking a Regional Engineer - Geotechnical to lead geotechnical projects in the Fairfax, VA area. This role focuses on engineering evaluation, reporting, and client collaboration across infrastructure and development projects.

The candidate will manage staff, develop scopes and budgets, and mentor technical teams while ensuring safety practices and quality assurance across nationwide engagements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering with ABET accreditation AND Master’s in Geotechnical Engineering.
• 10+ years of geotechnical engineering experience in related sectors.
• Virginia Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain in residence/adjacent states.
• Proficiency in major geotechnical software (GeoStudio, LPILE, PLAXIS, etc.).
• Ability to obtain Principal Consultant status within the company after defined criteria.
• Strong written and verbal communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to work off shifts and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide geotechnical engineering support on diverse project types (infrastructure, multi-family, vertical rise construction, etc.).
• Perform evaluations using standard geotechnical techniques and engineering judgment.
• Interpret laboratory and field test results and advise on project scope.
• Prepare and review geotechnical reports per specifications.
• Assign tasks and coordinate with staff and clients.
• Develop scopes, budgets, and schedules for projects.
