Job summary

Exponent Inc. is seeking a Senior Managing Geotechnical Engineer in Houston, TX, to lead geotechnical projects within Civil & Structural Engineering. You will develop client relationships, oversee field investigations, analyses, and design tasks while mentoring staff in a fast-paced environment.

The role offers exposure to diverse projects, cross-office collaboration, and opportunities to advance within Exponent’s multidisciplinary teams. Strong leadership and publication experience are valued.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with 10+ years geotechnical experience; or MS with 15+ years.
• P.E. license in at least one state; multi-state licensure a plus.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and client development skills.
• Proven leadership and staff mentoring capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; track record of publications or professional society activity.
• Current licensed professional civil engineer in at least one state, with ability to license in others.

Responsibilities

• Identify, develop and secure new business opportunities for Exponent.
• Lead and mentor project teams on geotechnical engineering projects.
• Conduct analyses of geotechnical and civil systems.
• Evaluate construction claims related to ground conditions and earthworks.
• Prepare conceptual designs for repair/restoration of geotechnical systems.
• Provide strategic consulting and expert witness services.
• Lead project teams through field investigations, analyses, and presentations.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients and new business sources.
