Job summary

Exponent is seeking a Senior Managing Geotechnical Engineer (Ph.D. or M.S.) for our Civil & Structural Engineering Practice in Houston, TX. You will lead geotechnical projects, develop client relationships, and mentor staff.

This role requires a licensed P.E., 10–15+ years experience, strong analytical skills, and a proven track record in business development. The position is on-site with a competitive six-figure salary.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or MS in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 10+ years' experience with Ph.D. or 15+ years' experience with MS.
• P.E. license in at least one state.
• Strong leadership and client development experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to attract projects and to manage staff in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Identify and secure new business opportunities and promote Exponent.
• Contribute to expanding civil and geotechnical engineering consulting efforts.
• Analyze geotechnical and civil engineering systems.
• Evaluate construction claims related to ground conditions and earthwork.
• Prepare conceptual designs for repair/restoration of geotechnical systems.
• Perform peer reviews and provide expert witness input.
• Lead project teams and manage field investigations and reporting.
• Develop projects with new and existing clients.
• Mentor staff in technical and business areas.
