Exponent seeks a Managing Geotechnical Engineer in Oakland, CA, to lead geotechnical projects within the Civil & Structural Practice. You will guide project teams, develop designs, and collaborate with clients to deliver technically challenging work. The ideal candidate holds a Ph.D.

or M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering with extensive experience and a P.E. license, and demonstrates strong leadership, communication, and scholarly contributions in geotechnical fields.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Civil Engineering specializing in Geotechnical Engineering with at least 5 years' post-grad experience.
• Alternatively, an M.S. in Civil Engineering specializing in Geotechnical Engineering with at least 10 years' post-grad experience will be considered.
• P.E. license in at least one state, with ability to become licensed in multiple states.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
• Demonstrated success in independently developing and managing client relationships.
• Attention to detail, dedication to quality and accuracy, ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven track record of effective leadership skills.
• Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals or conference proceedings or demonstrated leadership in geotechnical societies.

Responsibilities

• Conduct analyses of geotechnical and civil engineering systems.
• Evaluate construction claims related to ground conditions, earthwork, and earth structures (support of excavations, foundations, retaining walls, etc.).
• Prepare conceptual designs for repair/restoration of geotechnical systems.
• Perform peer reviews.
• Lead project teams on execution of project deliverables (field investigations, analyses, written and oral presentations of findings).
• Develop project work with new and existing clients.
