Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Engineers seeks a mid to senior level geotechnical engineer, P.E., to join our Frederick, MD team. You will participate in diverse geotechnical, testing, and monitoring projects within MD/VA, collaborating with colleagues across HCEA offices.

Responsibilities include managing projects, preparing reports and proposals, and providing geotechnical support to other engineers. Travel to nearby sites and client communication are essential components of the role.

Qualifications

• B.S. Civil Engineering or geotechnical related field.
• P.E. license required; 5+ years in MD/Northern VA geotech.
• MS in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.
• Travel willingness to support multiple sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Manage geotechnical projects from start to finish, including reporting.
• Prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, plans, specs, and client communications.
• Provide geotechnical/technical support to other project managers/engineers.
• Support other departments (CMT/Lab) as needed.
• Maintain client relationships and ensure service quality and safety.
