Job summary

NV5, Inc. in Truckee, CA seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead complex geotechnical projects for public and private clients. You will oversee field exploration, analysis, and reporting, and mentor junior staff.

Candidates must have at least 5 years in geotechnical engineering, an advanced degree, and a California PE (GE license preferred). Proficiency with gINT, LPile, SlopeW, MathCAD and CAD is expected, with strong communication and project-management skills.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have experience with public works and transportation projects.
• Experience with geotechnical design and calculations for permanent and temporary support systems for excavation and building foundations.
• Seismic risk analysis and soil-structure interaction analyses abilities.
• Must have at least 5 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience.
• Possess an advanced degree in geotechnical engineering and experience as a project manager.
• A California PE is required; GE license or ability to obtain GE is preferred.
• Experience with geotechnical software including gINT, LPile, SlopeW, MathCAD and CAD is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct and execute geotechnical project assignments including, engineering analysis and report preparation, field exploration and laboratory services.
• Provide senior-level review of proposals and reports, and ensure that commitments to clients are met.
• Direct and develop proposals and presentations and assist in business development activities.
• Supervise geotechnical staff and technicians.
• Actively participate in professional and technical organizations.
