Job summary

Schnabel Engineering is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to support our growing Richmond, VA practice. Qualified candidates are well‑rounded, organized problem solvers with an interest in managing complex projects and mentoring younger staff.

You will lead geotechnical investigations, review laboratory data, develop recommendations, and write reports while coordinating with teams across Schnabel offices. A ABET‑accredited civil engineering degree and 10+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 10+ years of progressive geotechnical engineering experience.
• Project management experience.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a team and manage complex projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop geotechnical scope of services and fee estimates.
• Lead planning and execution of advanced geotechnical investigations.
• Review geotechnical laboratory data and interpret results.
• Perform analyses and calculations for geotechnical design.
• Develop recommendations and write geotechnical reports.
• Support construction with geotechnical insights and oversight.
• Manage project resources, budgets, and client expectations.
• Collaborate with Schnabel offices to balance workload.
