Job summary

Schnabel Engineering is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to support growing business in Newport News, VA. The candidate will manage complex geotechnical projects, supervise staff, and provide geotechnical engineering services during construction.

Qualifications include a ABET-accredited civil engineering degree and 10+ years of consulting geotechnical experience, with strong communication and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Experience in geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing per standard practices.
• Ability to manage projects, budgets and client expectations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with staff and clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead construction materials testing and Special Inspections for projects, managing budget and clients.
• Develop proposals, scopes of work and fee estimates for testing services.
• Prepare reports on testing, soil/rock investigations, and evaluations.
• Interpret geotechnical data and provide construction recommendations.
• Coordinate resources during construction and mentor staff.
• Communicate effectively with clients, subconsultants and Schnabel team.
