Job summary

Legacy Engineering, P.C. seeks a Geotechnical/CMT Senior Engineer to join our Fredericksburg, VA team.

The role collaborates with geotechnical and CMT departments to support a wide range of public and private sector projects, including field observations, lab analysis, and geotechnical report preparation. Responsibilities include field reports, data evaluation, proposals, and client development while following safety standards.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• Familiarity with engineering and construction plans/specifications.
• Prior experience with subsurface exploration or construction inspection a plus.
• EIT working toward PE preferred.
• Familiarity with geotechnical software (GeoSystems, Gint, L-Pile, MSEW) a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review field reports, internal correspondence, and geotechnical engineering reports.
• Perform geotechnical analyses based on site conditions and requirements to support project designs.
• Evaluate laboratory and field data for inclusion in reports.
• Review and interpret data and test results; prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, plans, technical specifications, and reports.

Legacy Engineering is a woman-owned civil engineering firm specializing in land development design, geotechnical services, construction materials testing and inspections, land surveying, planning consulting, and environmental services. Headquartered in Fredericksburg, Virginia, we serve clients throughout the Commonwealth and beyond. The Geotechnical/CMT Senior Engineer will work collaboratively with our knowledgeable geotechnical and materials testing/inspections departments and assist with a wide variety of projects for public and private sector clients. Some duties may include but not limited to; test boring/test pit observations, laboratory analysis, preparation of geotechnical reports/calculation, management of field staff, review of daily field reports.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review field reports, internal correspondence, and geotechnical engineering reports.
• Perform geotechnical analyses based on site conditions and requirements to support project designs.
• Evaluate laboratory and field data for inclusion in reports.
• Review and interpret data and test results.Prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, plans, technical specifications, and reports, including day to day correspondence.Develop and maintain clients and actively participate in professional and related industry organizations.Support field instrumentation and monitoring activities.Support the office's Geotechnical Engineering and CMT departments as required.Follow company safety standards, site safety standards, and provide all required permitting.Contact vendors; research literature and regulatory requirements; prepare designs.

  The compensation range for this position is $65,000 to $115,000/annually, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description.
