Job summary

Legacy Engineering, P.C. is seeking a Geotechnical Services Engineer to collaborate with geotechnical and materials testing teams on a range of public and private sector projects in the Fredericksburg area. Responsibilities include field observations, lab analysis, and geotechnical report preparation.

The role involves preparing proposals, managing field staff, and ensuring safety compliance. Familiarity with geotechnical software and PE licensure is a plus as the team supports diverse projects

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• Familiarity with engineering and construction plans/specifications.
• Prior experience with subsurface exploration or construction inspection a plus.
• EIT working toward PE preferred.
• Familiarity with geotechnical software.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review field reports, internal correspondence, and geotechnical engineering reports.
• Perform geotechnical analyses based on site conditions and requirements to support project designs.
• Evaluate laboratory and field data for inclusion in reports.
• Review and interpret data and test results.
• Prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, plans, technical specifications, and reports, including day to day correspondence.
• Develop and maintain clients and actively participate in professional and related industry organizations.
• Support field instrumentation and monitoring activities.
• Support the office’s Geotechnical Engineering and CMT departments as required.
• Follow company safety standards, site safety standards, and provide all required permitting.
• Contact vendors; research literature and regulatory requirements; prepare designs.

Job description

The Geotechnical Services Engineer will work collaboratively with our knowledgeable geotechnical and materials testing/inspections departments and assist with a wide variety of projects for public and private sector clients. Some duties may include but not limited to; test boring/test pit observations, laboratory analysis, preparation of geotechnical reports/calculation, management of field staff, review of daily field reports.

The compensation range for this position is $65,000 to $115,000/annually, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description.
