Legacy Engineering in Fredericksburg, VA, seeks a Geotechnical/CMT Senior Engineer to lead geotechnical analysis, reporting, and field operations. You’ll collaborate with geotechnical and materials testing teams on diverse public and private projects, including field observations and laboratory work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or closely related field required.
• Experience with geotechnical reports and calculations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review field reports, geotechnical reports and calculations.
• Perform geotechnical analyses based on site conditions and requirements.
• Evaluate laboratory and field data for inclusion in reports.
• Review and interpret data and test results.
• Prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, plans, specs and reports.
• Develop and maintain client relationships and participate in industry groups.
• Support field instrumentation and monitoring activities.

Legacy Engineering is a woman-owned civil engineering firm specializing in land development design, geotechnical services, construction materials testing and inspections, land surveying, planning consulting, and environmental services. Headquartered in Fredericksburg, Virginia, we serve clients throughout the Commonwealth and beyond

The Geotechnical/CMT Senior Engineer will work collaboratively with our knowledgeable geotechnical and materials testing/inspections departments and assist with a wide variety of projects for public and private sector clients. Some duties may include but not limited to; test boring/test pit observations, laboratory analysis, preparation of geotechnical reports/calculation, management of field staff, review of daily field reports.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review field reports, internal correspondence, and geotechnical engineering reports.
• Perform geotechnical analyses based on site conditions and requirements to support project designs.
• Evaluate laboratory and field data for inclusion in reports.
• Review and interpret data and test results.
• Prepare technical proposals, cost estimates, plans, technical specifications, and reports, including day to day correspondence.
• Develop and maintain clients and actively participate in professional and related industry organizations.
• Support field instrumentation and monitoring activities.
• Support the office's Geotechnical Engineering and CMT departments as required.
• Follow company safety standards, site safety standards, and provide all required permitting.
• Contact vendors; research literature and regulatory requirements; prepare designs.

Skills, Knowledge, Expertise

• BS in Civil Engineering or closely related field.
• Familiarity with engineering and construction plans/specifications.
• Prior experience with subsurface exploration or construction inspection a plus.
• EIT working toward PE preferred.
• Familiarity with geotechnical software (i.e., GeoSystems, Gint, L-Pile, MSEW, etc.) a plus.

The compensation range for this position is $65,000 to $115,000/annually, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description.
