Job summary

WSP Global Inc. is seeking a Senior Geotechnical/Civil Engineer for our Lansing or Holland, MI offices.

You will work with the Earth & Environment Team on projects across solid waste, power, transportation, stormwater, and infrastructure, performing geotechnical design, earthworks, and regulatory permitting. You will lead subsurface investigations, prepare reports and drawings, and train junior staff while coordinating with clients and agencies.

Qualifications

• Minimum Bachelors of Science degree in Geotechnical, Geological or Civil Engineering.
• 5-7 years of experience in geotechnical, geological and/or civil engineering design and/or construction.
• Registration as Engineer-in-Training or recent Professional Engineer license.
• Experience in construction quality assurance, solid waste/landfill design and construction, geotechnical evaluations, earthworks construction and/or soils testing, permitting documents, drawings, specifications and estimates.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience using RocScience, GeoStudio or Ensoft suites.
• Ability to work independently and within groups.
• Strong leadership and positive attitude.
• Attention to QA/QC and adherence to codes and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Developing, scoping, and managing small-sized projects.
• Develop and manage subsurface investigations and laboratory testing programs.
• Conduct geotechnical engineering analysis and investigations.
• Civil layout, grading and drainage design.
• Prepare engineering design reports, drawings, specifications, and estimates.
• Assist with construction quality assurance projects.
• Engage with clients and regulatory agencies.
• Mentor junior staff.
