Exponent is seeking a Senior Geologist (MS/PhD) for its Civil & Structural Engineering Practice in Los Angeles, Oakland, Seattle or Bellevue. The role focuses on engineering geology, GIS, mapping, and geophysics to investigate failures of geotechnical systems and natural hazards.

Fieldwork, analysis, and client interaction are core aspects of the job. The position requires advanced degrees, licensure as a PG or PGP, and strong publication and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in geological sciences with focus on engineering geology or related field and 3+ years of experience, or an MS in geological sciences with 5+ years of experience.
• Licensed professional Geologist (PG) or Geophysicist (PGP) in at least one state.
• Ability to pursue Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG) or Certified Hydrogeologist (CHG).

Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections and subsurface explorations to determine causes of failure in geotechnical systems.
• Create geospatial and thematic maps and GIS models.
• Prepare technical reports and support peer reviews and claims evaluations.
