Job summary

Exponent seeks a Senior Geologist for our Civil & Structural Engineering Practice in Oakland, CA, with work in Bellevue, WA; Los Angeles, CA; Seattle, WA; Atlanta, GA; New York, NY. You will apply geological sciences, engineering geology, GIS, and geophysics to investigate failures of geotechnical systems and assess natural hazards.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in geological sciences with Engineering Geology focus and 5+ years post-grad experience.
• Alternatively MS with 10+ years experience and Engineering Geology focus.
• Licensure as PG or PGP in at least one state required.
• CEG or CHG certification or ability to obtain within 2 years.
• Strong analytical and client management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; publication record or professional activity.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field inspections and subsurface explorations to determine causes of failure.
• Evaluate site conditions for root cause analyses and mitigation design.
• Create geospatial and subsurface models using GIS.
• Develop topographic and thematic maps.
• Engage with clients on project strategy and deliverables.
• Peer review geologic and geotechnical documents.
• Evaluate construction claims.
• Lead project teams delivering field investigations and reports.
• Develop projects with new and existing clients.
