Job summary

Sompo International is seeking a Senior Technical Specialist, General Liability to provide technical oversight of primary and excess Casualty claims and to liaise with underwriting, claims, and TPAs. Location options include New York, Garden City, Purchase, Morristown, Miami, Charlotte, Alpharetta, or Conshohocken.

The role requires 5+ years in general liability claims, a Bachelor's degree (JD preferred), and professional designations; strong negotiation, analytical and communication skills; and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; JD preferred; insurance designation a plus.
• Multiple state adjuster licenses a plus; licenses may be required
• 5+ years of general liability claims handling with excess claims experience
• Strong negotiating, analytical, written and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Handle Casualty claims (primary and/or excess) and related systems/processes
• Provide technical oversight/guidance to TPA claim handlers/supervisors
• Adhere to client-specific claim handling guidelines and analyze potential exposures
• Manage counsel; develop/execute strategy to control expenses and resolve litigated claims
• Establish reserves; analyze loss/expense trends and implement improvement plans
• Ensure timely/accurate recording of claim information and maintain diaries
• Represent company in meetings/negotiations; communicate on significant issues
• Support underwriting/actuaries during renewal processes
