Job summary

The Hartford in Naperville, IL seeks a Consultant Claims – CH08CE to handle a caseload of general liability bodily injury and property damage claims from inception to final disposition, including complex indemnity questions and coordinating with defense counsel.

This role requires strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills, with 5+ years of litigated general liability experience; hybrid/remote work options are available, with some office presence in Naperville.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years handling General Liability litigated claims.
• Experience managing defense counsel and litigated matters.

Responsibilities

• Conduct investigations and analyze information learned.
• Make coverage determinations and communicate positions to insureds and required parties.
• Within authority, set reserves and monitor adjustments.
• Present cases to management for reserve authority decisions.
• Develop and implement resolution strategies for high-quality outcomes.
• Manage litigation with counsel, including budgeting and bill review.
• Attend trials and mediations as needed.
• Prepare reports and deliver presentations to senior leadership.
