Job summary

Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a General Counsel to serve as the chief legal authority for a mission-driven, nationally recognized nonprofit organization. This senior leadership role partners with the executive leadership and the Board to guide strategy, mitigate risks, and support sustainability.

The role balances high-level strategic advising with hands-on execution of legal matters, including contracts, labor/employment guidance, and compliance across jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active bar admission in good standing.
• 10+ years of legal experience, with senior-level or in-house counsel background.
• Experience advising organizations at national or multi-state level, nonprofit preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the chief legal authority for a nationally recognized nonprofit.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with impact across the org.
• Provide guidance on labor and employment matters for a multi-state workforce.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Oversee external legal vendors and governance activities.
