Job summary

Capital One is seeking Full-stack Software Engineering leaders to mentor talent, drive technical strategy, and lead major technology transformations across the company.

You will oversee multiple Agile teams, craft multi-year roadmaps, and deliver cloud-native, high-reliability systems using Java, Python, Go, JS/TS and open-source tools, in a collaborative, inclusive environment that values growth and impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field.
• At least 6 years of experience in software engineering.
• At least 3 years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), cloud-based productivity tools, or virtualization technologies.
• At least 3 years of people management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead a portfolio of diverse technology projects and a team of developers with deep experience in distributed microservices, and full stack systems to create solutions that help meet regulatory needs for the company
• Mentor engineers and participate in internal & external technology communities, occasionally coding or evaluating code
• Collaborate with product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions for millions of Americans' financial empowerment
• Lead teams using Java, Scala, Python, Go, Node.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, Open Source databases, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS tools
• Drive multiple Agile engineering teams or programs, providing strategic direction for large-scale initiatives
• Define multi-year technology roadmaps and investment priorities with product, architecture, and platform leaders
• Develop and manage Lead Engineers, build succession plans, scale leadership
• Align engineering execution with enterprise goals and drive portfolio decisions
• Design and implement large-scale, distributed, cloud-native systems with high reliability and performance
