Job summary

Sound Decisions is seeking a seasoned software engineer with 10+ years of experience to join our client’s team. You will work across frontend, backend, APIs, and data integrations, applying functional programming concepts with Scala or similar languages.

Expertise in TypeScript and AI-assisted development tools is highly valued. You will help shape architecture, balance multiple sessions, and mentor junior engineers as you grow into leadership roles.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of Scala or another functional programming language and applying FP concepts in production.

Responsibilities

• Develop software across multiple projects and languages.
• Maintain existing systems and deliver new features in a full-stack capacity.
• Translate customer, product, and business workflow needs into practical technical solutions.
• Prototype new products and integrations with reference implementations.
• Design and implement maintainable APIs and user-facing functionality.
• Write unit, functional, and automated tests; ensure reliable releases.
• Use AI tools to accelerate research, design exploration, coding, debugging, documentation, and test creation with validation.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Follow agile processes with iterative delivery and continuous improvement.
• Communicate clearly with engineering, product, and other stakeholders.
