Job summary

SOUND DECISIONS is seeking a senior software engineer to tackle complex production systems across languages. You will contribute to architecture discussions and own critical components in a fast-moving environment.

You’ll work full-stack with TypeScript and Scala, apply AI-assisted development responsibly, mentor teammates, and translate business needs into reliable, scalable software. Strong communication and time-management are required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of Scala or another functional programming language and production deployment.
• Full-stack experience across frontend, backend, APIs, data, and integrations.
• Proficient in TypeScript and modern web development.
• Familiarity with AI coding tools and responsible usage.
• Ability to manage up and grow into leadership roles.

Responsibilities

• Develop software across multiple projects and languages.
• Maintain existing systems and deliver new features in a full-stack capacity.
• Translate customer, product, and business workflow needs into practical technical solutions.
• Prototype new products and integrations, including reference implementations and UML-based mappings.
• Design and implement maintainable APIs, user-facing functionality, and supporting services.
• Write unit, functional, and automated tests and use them to maintain confidence in releases.
• Use AI tools to accelerate research, design exploration, coding, debugging, documentation, and test creation while validating all output.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback that improves quality and team learning.
• Follow agile processes with iterative delivery, prioritization, and continuous improvement.
• Communicate clearly with engineering, product, solutions, sales, and other stakeholders.
