Job summary

Sound Decisions Recruiting is seeking a seasoned software engineer for a client with a track record of building scalable merchant payment technologies. The role emphasizes production systems across languages, AI-assisted development, and collaboration with architecture discussions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• Strong knowledge of Scala or another functional programming language and applying FP concepts in production systems.
• Full-stack development across frontend, backend, APIs, data, and integrations.
• Experience developing with TypeScript and familiarity with modern web app development.
• Solid CS fundamentals and maturity in AI coding tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop software across multiple projects and languages.
• Maintain existing systems and deliver new features in a full-stack capacity.
• Translate customer, product, and business workflow needs into technical solutions.
• Prototype new products and integrations with reference implementations.
• Design and implement maintainable APIs, UI features, and supporting services.
• Create and maintain API docs, user guides, and technical decisions.
• Write unit and automated tests to ensure quality releases.
• Use AI tools to speed up research, design, coding, debugging, and testing.
• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Follow an agile process with iterative delivery and continuous improvement.
• Communicate clearly with engineering, product, solutions, and sales teams.
