Job summary

Roku is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the Embedded Software Automation and Tools team. You will design full stack apps and services supporting end-to-end automation, with a focus on performance and reliability for cross-functional stakeholders across Roku's ecosystem.

You'll build APIs, microservices, and integrate AI capabilities into production experiences, while collaborating across frontend and backend systems in a fast-paced, hybrid environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of proven full stack engineering experience with production web applications and backend services.
• Strong Python proficiency and web framework experience (FastAPI/Flask/Django).
• Frontend skills with TypeScript/JavaScript, Next.js, React, and MUI.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, and REST API design and integration.
• Experience with CI/CD (Jenkins, GitLab) and cloud-native deployments on AWS.
• Familiarity with AI capabilities and agentic tooling is a plus.
• OpenID/SAML authentication knowledge and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
• Hybrid work fit with ability to coordinate across US/Europe time zones.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Design and build full stack web applications to support end-to-end automation and test infrastructure.
• Integrate AI capabilities including LLM-driven experiences in existing toolsets.
• Develop APIs and microservices to support test and quality workflows.
• Deploy, scale, and monitor services in cloud environments using Kubernetes.
• Build robust backend and frontend systems for software quality and automation use cases.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and deliver tooling.
• Architect technical solutions, evaluate design trade-offs, and ensure maintainability.
• Create and maintain documentation with clear user requirements and constraints.
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve performance and reliability.
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior engineers.
