Job summary

AppFolio is seeking a senior-level full-stack Software Engineer to join our Leasing Engineering Team and accelerate product development for our SaaS platform. You will help define technical direction and deliver high-quality, scalable solutions used by thousands of customers.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product managers, QA, designers, and researchers, and promote agile practices. Strong experience with Ruby, Java, or Python and a modern stack (Rails, React, AWS) is valued.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience developing and scaling web-based applications.
• Experience leading technical projects end-to-end—from shaping requirements and architecture through implementation, launch, and ongoing optimization.
• Experience with modern Agile software development practices (Scrum, Kanban, CI/CD).
• Deep experience with at least one modern language such as Ruby, Java, or Python.

Responsibilities

• Develop scalable, web-based solutions for complex business problems at scale.
• Lead by example in design, coding, and architecture; mentor engineers to raise the technical bar.
• Formulate, implement, and optimize algorithms and database queries for SaaS scalability and performance.
• Design and deliver new features with robustness, maintainability, and performance.
• Drive engineering excellence through TDD, code reviews, and CI practices.
• Collaborate with engineers, QA, product managers, designers, and researchers on end-to-end solutions.
• Champion agile practices to deliver at a rapid pace.
• Research and apply new technologies to improve system quality and delivery.
