Job summary

AppFolio is seeking a Full Stack Senior Software Engineer to join the Mixed Portfolio Foundation team. You will own foundational architecture and data models across affordable housing, student housing, and other segments, enabling scalable SaaS solutions for thousands of customers.

You will work in a highly collaborative, agile environment, mentor teammates, drive architectural improvements, and deliver high-quality web applications using Ruby on Rails, React, MySQL, and AWS.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building web apps in SaaS
• Experience designing complex data models
• Strong experience with Rails, React, AWS
• Led architectural improvements for scalability
• Experience across all levels of the stack
• Familiarity with Agile processes (Scrum/Kanban)
• Familiarity with TDD
• Proactive problem solver with roadmap independence

Responsibilities

• Build understanding of mixed portfolio segments (affordable/student housing) and own foundations.
• Maintain and evolve Community Association, Commercial, NYC segments.
• Develop scalable web-based solutions and integrate with partners or refactor as needed.
• Mentor other software engineers.
• Implement features and optimize performance.
• Collaborate with QA, product, design in an empowered team.
• Follow agile delivery with sliced deliverables.
• Research new technologies and trends; advocate best practices.
