Job summary

PENN Entertainment's client platform team seeks an experienced software engineer to own GraphQL schemas and build fast, accessible web apps using React and TypeScript.

You will work on the server-driven UI service, collaborate with product and design, and ensure performance and quality through observability, testing, and CI/CD. The role includes on-call duties and a strong emphasis on clean architecture.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
• Strong JavaScript, TypeScript, and React with solid UX instincts.
• 2+ years designing and evolving GraphQL schemas for multi-client surfaces.
• Experience with Kubernetes and containerized services.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve GraphQL schemas in a federated graph for multiple clients.
• Develop, scale, and optimize GraphQL APIs, RPCs, and SQL queries behind web surfaces.
• Build front-end apps and shared libraries with React and TypeScript.
• Partner with product and design to ship customer-facing features.
• Write thorough tests and strengthen automated testing pipelines and CI/CD workflows.
• Use observability tooling and diagnose production issues; refine monitoring in DataDog.
• Participate in on-call rotations and own release cycles end to end.
