Job summary

Checkbook is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to design, build, and scale our payments platform, spanning databases, backend services, APIs, and modern frontends. You will work with Python, Postgres, and frontend frameworks, owning projects from architecture through launch.

You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, high-performance web applications in a growing fintech environment, contributing to architecture decisions and code quality across the stack.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience with Python, Postgres and frontend frameworks to build robust web applications.
• Familiarity with Python web frameworks including Flask, FastAPI and Django
• Ability to translate business requirements into effective software solutions
• Excellent problem-solving skills to tackle challenges and find creative solutions
• A background in fintech is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and architect exceptional web applications that exceed industry standards and captivate users
• Build and ship robust APIs, integrating with internal, partner and customer systems
• Ensure the security and integrity of our applications, safeguarding our users' valuable information
• Design and optimize large DB schemas, queries and objects to meet performance and functionality objectives
• Develop and implement automation tools and strategies to ensure the quality and stability of our web applications
• Stay up-to-date with the latest web technologies, industry trends, and best practices
