Job summary

Anthropic in San Francisco is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to build the technical foundation for scalable AI-driven education experiences. You will own the platform layer, data models, and delivery systems, shaping how millions of learners interact with Claude-based education tools.

You will collaborate with security, infra, and data teams, and partner with educators to ensure the system meets educational goals while maintaining velocity and reliability.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of taking a platform from zero to production at scale.
• Strong passion for education and AI-native learning.
• Ability to reason about educational content quality and the systems that produce it.
• Full-stack capabilities with emphasis on backend systems: databases, APIs, authentication, reliability, and infra.
• Experience operating platforms serving many concurrent users reliably.
• Comfort with ambiguity and ownership, translating pedagogy into architecture.
• Experience interfacing with security and infrastructure teams to meet requirements while preserving velocity.
• Experience using AI tools within engineering workflows and curiosity about AI-enabled platforms.

Responsibilities

• Architect and own Anthropic’s enterprise-ready education platform and infrastructure — authentication/SSO, learner data models, content delivery, credentialing, and progress tracking — designed for scale and AI-forward features.
• Own the technical vision for AI-driven educational experiences and shaping what's possible, not just building what's requested.
• Build AI-augmented pipelines for content generation, real-time adaptation, assessment delivery, and quality assurance.
• Design platform capabilities for adaptive paths, competency-based progression, and AI-evaluated demonstrations of skill.
• Interface with security, infrastructure, and data teams to meet standards and integrate with existing architecture.
• Build platform abstractions that let non-engineers configure and experiment with educational experiences.
• Make product-level decisions about how the platform works and how learning is delivered.
