Job summary

CodeAI, a nonprofit focused on AI and CS education, is seeking a Software Engineer for the Teacher Experience team to accelerate learning for teachers and students in the United States and globally. You will work with product managers, designers, and curriculum writers to turn classroom needs into production-ready features using agentic AI tools while maintaining high code quality.

Qualifications

• 8+ years developing and maintaining consumer-grade full-stack web applications using JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Ruby on Rails, and SQL.
• Hands-on experience using agentic AI tools to build software and adapt to evolving workflows.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and supporting high-scale, production applications.
• Technical leadership experience, including setting technical direction or mentoring teammates.
• Ability to drive projects independently and communicate progress clearly.

Responsibilities

• Partner with product managers, designers, and curriculum writers to develop end-to-end features for real classrooms.
• Write and maintain production-ready code in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, Rails, and SQL; use AWS services for storage and logging.
• Prototype and iterate on AI-focused products for students, evaluating generative AI models with safety and effectiveness in mind.
• Take ownership of complex projects and drive scalable, maintainable solutions across teams.
• Support site and user needs, monitor production issues, deploy updates, and triage user inquiries.
• Foster a collaborative team culture through knowledge sharing and code reviews.
