Job summary

Nordstrom is seeking a Senior Engineer 2 in Seattle for the Merchandise Ordering team. This hybrid role requires onsite presence at Nordstrom Seattle office a minimum of 4 days/week.

You will own the quality of a team's work across the full stack, developing and optimizing front-end applications and backend services for purchase-order management. Competence in modern front-end and backend technologies, cloud deployments, and AI-assisted software development is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in an engineering discipline, preferably computer science, or equivalent.
• 8+ years of professional software delivery experience across the full stack.
• Strong front-end skills: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and modern frameworks (React.js, Angular, Vue).
• Backend expertise: Node.js, Express.js, Java, .NET, Python (Django/Flask) or similar.
• Database experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis.
• CI/CD, Docker, cloud services (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Experience with AI-assisted software development (AI coding tools).
• Enterprise web apps from scratch; strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Agile/Scrum experience; cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience with system design, architecture, scaling, performance testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop full-stack solutions for complex ordering and integration problems.
• Collaborate with Merchandising, Planning, Vendor Compliance, and Supply Chain stakeholders.
• Design, build, and maintain front-end applications and backend services for PO management.
• Improve engineering practices: CI/CD, cloud migration, TDD, and AI-enabled development.
• Champion AI-enabled software development and ship AI agents for ordering workflows.
• Plan, analyze, and define high-level software strategies with enterprise systems understanding.
• Take ownership of cross-team designs and mentor junior engineers.
• Stay current with industry trends and ensure security and best practices.
